What is pornography (porn)?

Porn can mean lots of things, from pictures of naked people to movies showing people having sex, and can be found anywhere from porn websites, to blogs and even late night TV. For most pornographic material, you must be over 18 to view it.

People might watch porn for lots of reasons (for pleasure, for a laugh, or to see what sex actually looks like). One of the down sides of watching porn is that it can give you a very unrealistic idea about what sex should be like, what people’s bodies should be like and what you or your partner should want to do in bed.

It’s very easy to be influenced by things we see (especially if we watch it alone!) so it’s really important to remember that porn is much more about fantasy than reality.

If you’re over 14 and want to know more about porn (safely!), check out this great site.
